Liz Franey has fourteen years’ experience as a senior leader in the Department for Education, based in Manchester.
Role: Trustee (Board of Trustees)
She leads a team within the department’s Special Educational Needs and Alternative Provision directorate focused on implementing the March 2022 Green Paper. Prior to this she managed the department’s £108m Opportunity Areas programme promoting social mobility in twelve of the most deprived areas of England. Her previous roles have included working with the Regional Schools Commissioner for Lancashire and West Yorkshire, and managing teams assessing applications for Free Schools. Before joining the department, Liz was a European Civil Servant, working on a variety of topics, including international trade negotiations.
She is also a parent of two children who currently attend Parrs Wood High School.
